Spanish Cay Anchorage

26° 56.1′ N · 77° 31.4′ W

An anchorage off the marina side of Spanish Cay, sheltered by the island and the reef, for those who would rather not pay for a slip but want to use the island's customs or fuel.

Practical

ActiveCaptain position. Protection from north through south-east from the island to the east and north and the reef to the south; open to the west. Work in from the west, avoiding the reef along the south. Good holding reported (2012-2016); the shoal to the east-south-east keeps the water settled, with better swell protection at low tide. Landing by dinghy at the marina carries a fee for non-guests (see Spanish Cay Customs). The island is private: non-guests may fuel, eat and clear customs. ActiveCaptain also marks Atlantic-side inlets north-west of the cay (26.9694, -77.53649) and east of it (26.9388, -77.48173), with no depth data. Pre-Dorian reports.
