Old Fort Bay Anchorage

25° 3.1′ N · 77° 30.2′ W

A quiet anchorage on New Providence's north-west shore near Lyford Cay, with beautiful beaches and big sunsets, sheltered from the prevailing easterlies.

Practical

Waterway Guide position N 25°03.118' W 077°30.175'; about 8 ft. Protection from east and south winds; expect some surge. Good light needed to dodge coral heads and shoals on the way in. Busy at weekends with fast boats and jet skis. The Old Fort Bay resort/club does not allow dinghies on its beach, but if you call ahead and ask nicely they may let you walk through the property; groceries and restaurants are then within walking distance (Old Fort Bay Town Centre). ActiveCaptain (pin 25.05180, -77.50204, updated December 2025): good protection east through south; not a place to be in north or west weather. One approach: from about 3/4 mile out, run due south along longitude 077°30.30'W toward two conspicuous red-roofed buildings ashore; tide range about 3 ft.

Best for

A calm night on the west end in easterlies

Season
