No Name Cay anchorage
26° 44.6′ N · 77° 17.8′ W · approximate
A day anchorage at the mouth of No Name Cay's crescent, used for visiting the pigs and Big O's and as a staging spot to look at the Whale before committing.
Practical
Approximate position in the opening of the crescent from the OpenStreetMap outline. Pick a sandy patch: there is grass in the anchorage. Open to the south and west; a day stop in settled weather. The No Name bar lies just to the south-west — Florida Sportsman's route keeps south of it, and it is easy to see in daylight. Gone With the Wynns used this spot as a base to gather local knowledge on Whale Cay Passage.
