New Plymouth (Green Turtle Cay)
26° 45.5′ N · 77° 19.8′ W
A Loyalist village of narrow lanes, picket fences and steep-roofed clapboard cottages settled in the late 1700s, small enough to walk end to end in fifteen minutes; Key West's sister city since 1977 and the birthplace of Methodism in The Bahamas.
Practical
Village centre from OpenStreetMap. Services: post office, bank, groceries, liquor stores, churches and restaurants; most shops open daytime Mon-Sat and the village is quiet on Sundays. Golf carts and bicycles are the way to get around. Dinghy landing at the public dock (OSM 'Green Turtle Cay Town Dock' at 26.7658, -77.3289) or from Black Sound. Ye Olde Jail is a classic photo stop.
