Carters Cays Anchorage (Old Yankee Cay)
27° 4.5′ N · 78° 1.2′ W
Carters Cays are a cluster of low cays between Strangers and Moraine, with the remains of an old US missile-tracking base described in the guidebooks. The charted anchorage is often uncomfortable.
Practical
ActiveCaptain position for the charted anchor symbol off Old Yankee Cay. Cruisers report too much current to lie comfortably (2015, 2017): boats sit crossways to any chop. Less than charted depths are reported nearby: 3-5 ft at MLW around 27.0773, -78.00459. The missile-tracking ruins were 'very underwhelming' (2017). For a protected shoal-draft alternative see Hogstyle Harbour just north; otherwise push on to Great Sale or Moraine. Pre-Dorian reports.
