Black Sound fuel (Other Shore Club and Black Sound docks)

26° 45.8′ N · 77° 19.6′ W

Black Sound, beside New Plymouth, was the island's traditional fuel stop. The Other Shore Club's fuel pier was destroyed by Hurricane Dorian, and fuel in the sound is again reported available, but which dock currently pumps it needs a call to confirm.

Practical

Position is The Other Shore Club marina (marinas.com). Before Dorian the Other Shore Club sold fuel and water (entry channel about 4.5 ft, then 6 ft inside, per Cruisers Wiki). Noonsite (last updated January 2020) reported the outer pier with fuel and dockage destroyed and no yacht facilities, and said the then-new Turtle Cay Marina in Black Sound was selling fuel and water. Waterway Guide now says Black Sound's fuel, services and dockage are available though some facilities are not rebuilt, and marinas.com's harbor page says Black Sound has two fuel-selling facilities, without naming them. Neither the Other Shore Club's nor Beach Weekend Bahamas' current listing confirms fuel. Call the Other Shore Club (242-365-4226, dockmaster 242-365-4338) or ask on VHF 16 before you rely on it. Black Sound's channel is shallow, so deep-draft boats should fuel at the Green Turtle Club in White Sound (gas and diesel confirmed).
