Black Point Settlement Anchorage

24° 6.3′ N · 76° 24.4′ W

One of the largest and best anchorages in the Exumas — a huge sand bay off a real working Bahamian village, with room to spread out for miles. Excellent holding throughout.

Practical

Averages 8-9 ft; the east end has extensive shallows that dry at low water. Good protection except WSW through WNW — it becomes a lee shore in a frontal clocking, and the standard move is to slip south to Little Bay or White Point. No moorings, no slips, NO FUEL.

Best for

Big-boat room, great holding and a real village ashore
