Sandy Lane Yacht Club and Marina (Glossy Bay, Canouan)

12° 41.9′ N · 61° 21.3′ W

A gated superyacht marina in South Glossy Bay beside Canouan's jet-capable airport, with about 120 berths for yachts from 10 m to 100 m and the only full-service fuel dock in the southern Grenadines.

Practical

Call VHF 68; you are normally sent straight to a berth, otherwise lie port-side-to on the quay in front of the marina office. Security calls go out on VHF 16 and 68 when large yachts manoeuvre. Entrance is marked by a large safe-water light buoy and IALA-B lateral marks; the channel carries a minimum of 5.3 m (17 ft 6 in). Berths have water and 16 to 630 amp power; fuel dock sells duty-free diesel and gasoline to all visitors; pump-out at most berths. Smaller-yacht berths are at the more sheltered eastern end; Taffia Hill breaks some, not much, of the wind. Port of entry: customs and immigration at the airport about 50 m from the marina gate. On site (Noonsite business listing, 2019): showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, garbage, ice, pool, two restaurants, a bar, a bakery and a well-stocked but expensive supermarket; 24-hour security patrols and CCTV; help with airport clearance and island transport. Charlestown (bank, ATM, market) is 5 minutes by taxi. Airport noise. A 2017 cruiser report put berthing at about US$1 per foot; verify locally. Marina office listed as open daily 8 am to 5 pm (2019; verify locally).
