Glossy Bay Anchorage (Canouan)

12° 41.9′ N · 61° 21.1′ W · approximate

A beautiful beach bay on Canouan's south-west corner looking straight down the Grenadines to the Tobago Cays, Mayreau and Union, with some of the best sunsets on the island.

Practical

Coordinate is derived: a point in the water of South Glossy Bay (OpenStreetMap bay outline), just west of the Sandy Lane marina channel; it is not a surveyed anchorage. The tourism authority describes the beach and views; no cruising-guide depth or holding data was found, so sound your way in and keep well clear of the marina's buoyed entrance channel and of superyacht traffic. Give Glossy Hill and the west end of the runway a wide berth and stay out of the airport's final approach area (SVG Air asks yachts to avoid 2 miles of the final approach). Fuel, water and provisions are a short dinghy ride away at Sandy Lane.

Best for

A day stop with a view south over the whole Grenadines chain
