Pointe du Bout - Fort-de-France Ferry (Vedettes)

14° 36.1′ N · 61° 4.2′ W

Fast passenger shuttles run all day across the Baie de Fort-de-France from Pointe du Bout, Anse Mitan, Anse à l'Âne and the Trois-Îlets bourg to the Fort-de-France waterfront: about 20 minutes and far cheaper than a taxi or a long dinghy ride.

Practical

Position is the Fort-de-France pontoon for the Trois-Îlets and Anses d'Arlet services, beside the Savane (OSM). Other stops (OSM): Pointe du Bout marina, Embarcadère de l'Anse Mitan (14.55147, -61.05474), Embarcadère de l'Anse à l'Âne (14.54101, -61.06631) and Embarcadère des Trois-Îlets (14.54052, -61.03583). The operator is Blue Lines; check its website or app for timetables and buy tickets online (Martinique tourism). Wikipedia says 15-20 crossings a day to Anse Mitan. ActiveCaptain gives a return fare of €7, or about €4.50 per trip with a 10-trip card (date not given, verify locally). The wakes are a nuisance in Anse à l'Âne and off the Fort-de-France anchorage, and anchoring is forbidden in the ferry approaches (Noonsite).

Best for

Leaving the boat at Anse Mitan or Anse à l'Âne and going to town
