Paradise Beach (L'Esterre)

12° 28.5′ N · 61° 28.8′ W

A long, uncrowded arc of white sand shaded by sea grapes, coconut and almond trees at L'Esterre, looking straight out at Sandy Island. Beach bars, weekend string-band music and dominoes give it a real local feel.

Practical

Coordinate is the OpenStreetMap beach centroid. Pure Grenada calls it 'Voted the Best Caribbean Beach in 2022' and notes changing facilities and a craft shop. Places to eat: Off the Hook Bar & Grill (run by Curtis for 15+ years, per a 2018 cruiser) and Paradise Beach Club. Noonsite (Feb 2025) says the beach was cleaned up after Beryl and the Paradise Beach Club was on its way to reopening. Reach it by dinghy from the moorings, or walk about 30 minutes from Tyrrel Bay via L'Esterre village. From Hillsborough, walk the beach and a mangrove footpath past Lauriston Point (Caribbean Beat). Water taxis to Sandy Island leave from here. A charted wreck lies a few hundred metres north-east of the beach in L'Esterre Bay (OpenStreetMap seamark); keep a lookout when anchoring.

Best for

Lazy afternoons, local lunches and the view to Sandy Island
