Morne Rouge Bay

12° 1.2′ N · 61° 46.4′ W · approximate

Morne Rouge Bay, which locals call BBC Beach, is a half-mile crescent of white sand west of Quarantine Point. It is quieter and calmer than Grand Anse, with clear water, a couple of beach bars and sunset views.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap 'Morne Rouge Cove' bay node (approx), checked to be in the water. Noforeignland reviewers describe beautiful water but tricky holding on an unstable bottom, roll in strong winds, and the Coast Guard telling boats where they may anchor. Noonsite says anchoring is prohibited within 200 m of any beach and in Grand Anse Bay south of 12°02.05'N, so confirm the current rules with the Coast Guard or GAMPA before you anchor. Use it as a calm-weather day stop. The beach shelves gently and is ideal for swimming (GTA).
