Marigot Bay Hurricane Hole

13° 58.0′ N · 61° 1.4′ W · approximate

Marigot's mangrove-fringed inner lagoon, surrounded on three sides by steep forested hills, is the best-known hurricane hole in St Lucia and one of the best in the region.

Practical

Position is in the inner lagoon east of the marina, derived from the OpenStreetMap coastline (approx). Wikipedia notes the inland portion of the bay forms a hurricane hole; Noonsite calls Marigot Harbour completely sheltered and one of the best hurricane holes in the region. Space is very limited and controlled by the marina and mooring field, so arrange a place well before a storm; many local boats also head here. Hurricane season is June 1 to November 30. During Hurricane Beryl in July 2024 a Noonsite contributor reported Rodney Bay Marina filling up a day ahead, so act early. Check your insurer's named-storm rules.
