Grande Anse d'Arlet Turtle Snorkel
14° 30.2′ N · 61° 5.2′ W · approximate
Green turtles graze the seagrass meadow in the middle of Grande Anse, often right between the moored yachts, and snorkellers can float above them a few metres from the beach.
Practical
Position is the inner bay between the moorings and the beach, taken between the ActiveCaptain anchorage point and the OSM beach outline. A 2017 Noonsite report saw many more green turtles here than at Petite Anse. Martinique tourism notes green and hawksbill turtles are common and protected. Do not touch, chase or feed them, and keep clear of their path to the surface. Watch for dinghy and tender traffic between the boats and the dock. Bring your own gear or rent it from the beach businesses.
Best for
Swimming with green turtles straight off the boat
