Distillerie Trois-Rivières (Sainte-Luce)

14° 28.3′ N · 60° 57.9′ W · approximate

A plantation founded around 1660 with a restored windmill above the sea, cane fields and a chai you can tour. It is one of the oldest estates on the island.

Practical

Position is approximate, at Anse des Trois Rivières on the coast below the estate (OSM). Rum is no longer distilled here: since 2004 it has been made at La Mauny in Rivière-Pilote, while Sainte-Luce keeps the ageing cellars and visitor site. Routard says the site, shop and tasting are free, and the estate opens daily, generally 9 am-5:30 pm. Guided tours are paid, Monday to Saturday, with Sundays in the December-April high season. The rum carries the AOC Martinique (since 1996). Reach it on the Sainte-Luce coastal path (6.5 km) or by taxi.
