Canaries Anchorage

13° 54.5′ N · 61° 4.2′ W · approximate

A small, steep bay off a quiet fishing village between Anse La Raye and Soufrière, with a jetty and river-bathing spots, rarely used by yachts.

Practical

Position is about 200 m off the village, derived from the OpenStreetMap coastline near the Canaries pier (approx). No yacht moorings or facilities were documented in the sources used. Noonsite places the coast from Anse Cochon to Gros Piton within the Soufrière Marine Management Area, where anchoring is only allowed in designated zones, so check with SMMA rangers (VHF 16) before anchoring. Security: Noonsite lists the Anse Canaries area among those with past reports of theft and armed robbery of yachts at anchor; a daytime stop with crew aboard is the prudent use. The village plans a yachting project (Saint Lucia Tourism Authority).
