Calliaqua Bay Anchorage

13° 7.8′ N · 61° 11.8′ W · approximate

The open bay between Blue Lagoon and Young Island, off Calliaqua village. Most yachts use it as the approach to Blue Lagoon or Young Island Cut rather than as an overnight stop.

Practical

Coordinate is the centroid of the OpenStreetMap 'Calliqua Bay' polygon (approx). Noonsite describes Calliaqua Bay as the south-coast bay that contains both Young Island Cut and Blue Lagoon. Charted aids (NGA light list, via OpenStreetMap): a red starboard beacon, Fl R 4s, marks the Calliaqua Bay side of the Blue Lagoon approach at about 13.1256 N, 61.1955 W, and Rookes Point Shoal is marked by a south cardinal beacon, VQ(6)+LFl 10s, at about 13.1277 N, 61.1989 W. Keep to the south of that cardinal. The bay is open to the south. Fizzy Reef, a dive with geothermal activity, lies in the bay. Calliaqua village ashore has a fish market, bakery, ATM, police station and clinic.
