Road Town Customs & Immigration (Port of Entry)
18° 25.1′ N · 64° 37.1′ W · approximate
The main BVI port of entry for yachts: HM Customs and Immigration offices at the Road Town ferry dock, and the only place a Temporary Import Permit (TIP) can be issued for boats staying more than a month.
Practical
Position is the Road Town Ferry Terminal from OpenStreetMap (the offices are at the ferry dock). Noonsite (Jan 2026): visiting yachts clearing at the Road Town ferry dock must pick up a mooring ball directly in front of the customs office; dropping anchor risks a very heavy fine. Every person entering the BVI must complete the online BVI Customs and Immigration arrival form (bviedcard.gov.vg, open from 36 hours before arrival per the BVI Tourist Board; Nanny Cay advises up to 72 hours), and Nanny Cay notes BVI Customs uses SailClear for vessel pre-arrival notification. Bring passports and boat registration; all crew should attend. The area overview records BVI Customs telling callers in April 2026 it works 8:30 am to 4:30 pm daily, with revenue collection ending at 4 pm and overtime fees on Sundays and holidays; Village Cay Marina quotes 9 am to 5 pm, so call ahead. Inter-island and USVI ferry arrivals share the hall, so go between ferries if you can. Charter guests normally have clearance handled by their charter company.
