Magens Bay Arboretum & Nature Trail

18° 21.5′ N · 64° 55.5′ W

A five-acre arboretum planted in the 1920s by Arthur Fairchild just inland of Magens Bay, linked to a 1.5-mile trail down through a 319-acre preserve from the hills above the bay.

Practical

Coordinates from Wikipedia (arboretum). Wikipedia: operated by the Magens Bay Authority and open to the public; reopened after 2017 hurricane repairs; the trail, opened in 2004 by The Nature Conservancy and local partners, passes through several ecosystems and is good for birding (the area is an Important Bird Area for green-throated carib, Antillean crested hummingbird and others).

Best for

A shady walk and birdwatching from the beach
