Beach· Tortola· Virgin Islands (BVI, USVI and Spanish Virgins)

Long Bay West (Belmont)

18° 23.8′ N · 64° 41.2′ W · approximate

A mile-long stretch of white sand on Tortola's north-west coast, backed by palms and the Long Bay Beach Resort, with Belmont Point and Smuggler's Cove to the west.

Practical

Position from OpenStreetMap (Long Bay Beach Resort). The BVI Tourist Board describes the beach as a mile-long stretch of white sand. North-facing and exposed to winter ground swell; most sailors visit by land from Soper's Hole or Cane Garden Bay rather than anchoring off. Noonsite suggests Lower Belmont Bay as an anchoring alternative to crowded Soper's Hole; keep off the coral.

Best for

A long beach walk and resort lunch

Season

Best in settled weather; north swell Nov–Apr
