Green Cay National Wildlife Refuge

17° 46.0′ N · 64° 39.9′ W

A 14-acre islet off Green Cay Marina, protected since 1977 for the largest remaining natural population of the endangered St Croix ground lizard.

Practical

Coordinate from Wikipedia/GeoHack. The island is closed to the public with no visitor services (USFWS). The refuge stops at the waterline, so you may kayak, paddle or snorkel around the cay, but you pass through marina traffic: go with a buddy (GoToStCroix). Coast Pilot: 55 ft high at its south end, 0.4 mile northeast of Punnett Point; the water between the cay and the shore is 6 to 18 ft with numerous coral heads.

Best for

A kayak or snorkel circuit from Green Cay Marina
