Koh Siboya West Anchorage (off SiBoya Bungalows)

7° 53.1′ N · 98° 58.0′ E · approximate

An off-the-beaten-track stop off the west coast of Koh Siboya, a rural rubber-plantation island north of Koh Jum with a single resort and almost no tourism.

Practical

Position approx: about 1.1 km west of the OpenStreetMap coastline in front of SiBoya Bungalows (7.8837N 98.9784E). No cruising-guide soundings were found for Koh Siboya. Strong tides leave the beaches swimmable only at high tide (thehappyjetlagger.com), so expect wide drying flats: anchor well off, sound in on a rising tide and plan dinghy landings around high water. Open to the west; NE-monsoon stop only. Ashore: resort restaurant, roadside snack stalls and early breakfast in the main village. Monkeys and iguanas on the island.

Best for

A quiet rural Thai island stop on the way to Lanta

Season

Nov–Apr; exposed to SW swell
