Koh Mak Northwest Bay Anchorage

11° 49.2′ N · 102° 27.3′ E

Koh Mak's big northwest bay off Ao Suan Yai beach, with good protection, a village pier and a view across to Koh Kham. It is the main anchorage of this flat, coconut-palm island.

Practical

Southeast Asia Pilot waypoint 11°49.196N 102°27.347E, 22 nm from Khlong Son. Large bay with good protection. Watch for coral heads in less than 7 m. Anchor northwest of the village pier in 5–7 m. A yachting.com guide says 5–10 m north of the pier, clear of the motorboat routes. Ashore: many small resorts and the artist Somchai's sculpture grounds behind the resort, open to visitors. Boats to Koh Kham leave from the Koh Mak Resort pier (see Koh Kham). Koh Mak is outside the national park, so no park fee.
