Ao Khlong Chao Anchorage

11° 37.7′ N · 102° 32.5′ E

The main west-coast bay of Koh Kut, off the mouth of the Khlong Chao river. Resorts line both banks, and a jungle waterfall is a 20-minute walk inland.

Practical

Southeast Asia Pilot waypoint 11°37.727N 102°32.492E, 6 nm from Koh Maisi Lek. Anchor in 5 m on sand off the mouth of the khlong, centre of the bay; protection is sufficient in the NE season only. A small wooden jetty lies upriver beyond the bridge. A supermarket sits at the top of the steep hill behind Away Resort, with small resorts on both banks. Peter Pan Resort, on a sand spit south of the river, holds frequent weekend parties; if so, move to the south end of the bay near Na Talay resort. OpenStreetMap maps small shops (Dan, Nine Shop) and a speedboat pier around the bay.

Best for

Koh Kut's main bay, with a waterfall walk and resort restaurants
