L'Ilot (North Point)
4° 33.6′ S · 55° 25.9′ E · approximate
A granite islet off Mahé's northwest tip and the signature dive of the north coast: big schools of yellow snapper, big-eyes and pick-handle barracuda, eagle rays, turtles and white-tip reef sharks, with soft corals, swim-throughs and seasonal whale sharks.
Practical
Big Blue Divers: 0-25 m, granite rocks with frequent surge and/or current, snorkelling possible in calm conditions; frogfish and leaf fish for macro fans. Coordinate derived: the islet is not named on OSM; this is a point just off the small unnamed islet (OSM way 299846419) beside Anse L'Ilot beach, which matches the site's description. Confirm with the dive centre. Dive with a licensed operator; snorkel only on slack, calm days and keep the dinghy upwind.
