Ile Thérèse Anchorage and Snorkel

4° 40.2′ S · 55° 24.2′ E · approximate

An uninhabited 164 m granite island 1-2 km off Port Glaud, with a 700 m palm-backed white beach, a reef guarding its south shore and the natural rock staircase at 'Stair Point' that gives rise to treasure legends.

Practical

Coordinate derived: a point about 130 m off Thérèse's northeast coast on the Mahé side, checked to be in the water against OSM coastline; no published anchorage survey, so sound in by eye and use only as a settled-weather day stop. Big Blue Divers lists Therese Rocks (0-15 m, granite and coral) and Therese Reef (0-14 m, coral reef with turtles, eagle rays and white-tip reef sharks), both snorkellable. Only reachable by private boat (Seyvillas). The island is privately owned (Wikipedia notes it has been for sale), so ask before landing.

Best for

Snorkelling and a deserted beach a short hop from Port Glaud
