Félicité West Anchorage

4° 19.2′ S · 55° 51.9′ E · approximate

The lee-side anchorage off steep granite Félicité, about 2 nm east of La Digue: sand and seagrass under the island's west face, a short hop from the Cocos islets and the Sisters, with the Six Senses Zil Pasyon resort on the north end.

Practical

Position 4°19.22'S 55°51.92'E is the Navily community listing as shown in its search index (the page itself is behind a bot wall); it falls about 120 m off Félicité's west shore on the OpenStreetMap outline, so it is marked approx. Navily lists the seabed as sand and seagrass, a beach, and no water, dock or snack bar. No source consulted publishes a depth or holding rating: sound in and set the anchor in a sand patch clear of the seagrass in good light. Protection: the west side is in the lee of the island in the southeast trades (May–Oct); koek.sc warns it is exposed to the northwest in the transition season, so check conditions before committing, and it is open to the northwest monsoon (Dec–Mar), when Anse Cocos on La Digue or La Passe harbour are better. Hazards (NGA Pub 171): Albatross Rocks, above and below water, lie on a foul area about 0.4 mile NNW of Félicité - approach from the southwest, not round the north end at night or in poor light; OpenStreetMap also maps several drying rocks off the south and southeast coast. Félicité is 228 m high (Pub 171) and makes strong gusts down its lee in fresh trades. Ashore: private resort island with no public facilities (koek.sc: stay on the boat); do not land at the resort without permission. koek.sc rates the snorkelling off the southern point the best it has found in the inner islands, visibility typically 15-20 m in calm conditions. Daytime stop for most charters; charter boats must be anchored at least an hour before sunset.

Best for
