Anse La Blague Anchorage

4° 19.5′ S · 55° 47.1′ E · approximate

Grand Anse La Blague and Petit Anse La Blague on Praslin's east coast, a 1 km reef-backed beach looking out to the Sisters and La Digue and a north-west-monsoon alternative to Baie Ste Anne.

Practical

The beach is protected by a coral reef; it is very shallow at low tide and deep with much stronger currents at high tide (SeyVillas), so land the dinghy near low water slack and anchor outside the reef. Faces east, so it is sheltered from the NW monsoon and open to the SE trades. No cruising-guide depths, holding data or moorings found in the sources checked; anchor only in settled conditions after checking a current chart. Seaweed October to April. Ashore: the Villa Anse La Blague restaurant and an old church behind the beach; Baie Ste Anne village is about 3 km by road (bus 63). Position approximate: about 500 m east of the OSM-mapped Grand Anse La Blague beach.

Best for

A quiet east-coast stop in the NW monsoon

Season

Dec–Mar (NW monsoon) in settled weather; exposed in the SE trades
