Miners Bay (Mayne Island)

48° 51.1′ N · 123° 18.1′ W

Mayne's historic village dock on the south side of Active Pass, next to the 1892 Springwater Lodge. The village up the hill has groceries, a bakery, a pub and a Saturday farmers market.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM dock. CRD public wharf with floats on both sides of the approach, about 75 m (250 ft) of berthing, short-term rates as other CRD docks (first 3 hours free by day). Ferry wash from Active Pass makes the floats roll hard, especially at low tide or in northerlies; part of the floats is reserved for emergency boats, water taxis and floatplanes. An adjoining fuel dock sells gas and diesel: call the service station on the direct phone. Anchoring close to shore is possible but most of the bay is deep, swirled by tidal currents and rolled by ferry wakes. Some guides list Miners Bay as a NEXUS-only CBSA reporting point; check with CBSA. Saturday market 10 am to 1 pm in season.
