Varadero Bay Anchorage (SW Monsoon)
13° 29.9′ N · 120° 57.7′ E
The southern inner bay of Puerto Galera harbour, historically a Spanish ship-repair site and the recommended anchorage when the southwest monsoon (habagat) sets in.
Practical
Position: OSM 'Varadero Bay'. Noonsite and PGYC: suitable overnight safe anchorage in Varadero Bay during the SW monsoon; sand - choose depth to suit keel and scope. PGYC history notes Varadero Bay was used as a ship-repair facility, possibly with a dry dock. Avoid coral and giant clams; whole harbour is a protected area with zero-discharge rules.
Best for
SW-monsoon shelter inside the harbour
Season
SW monsoon (roughly May-Oct)
