Tulang Island Anchorage (Camotes)

10° 42.5′ N · 124° 19.0′ E · approximate

A sand-and-seagrass anchorage between the north-west corner of Pacijan and Tulang islet, with a coconut-covered island and fishing village a short dinghy ride away.

Practical

Approximate position derived midway between Esperanza Beach on Pacijan (10.6999°N 124.3140°E) and the south end of Tulang (Tulang Diot, 10.7155°N 124.3247°E) in OpenStreetMap - verify with sounder and satellite imagery. Solita (2012): the channel between the islands is deep, but off Tulang's sandspit there is a large patch of sand and seagrass in 6-9 m, and similar level sand/grass continues along Pacijan's north coast to San Francisco. Open to NE winds. In calm weather boats also anchor off Esperanza beach, the Consuelo wharf and Mangodlong Beach. All 500 houses on Tulang were destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan in 2013 (residents had been evacuated).
