Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) Season in Bacuit Bay

From about June to October the southwest monsoon brings rain, westerly swell and violent squalls that wrap round the karst - switch to the town anchorage and the SW-protected spots.

Approx: plotted at the El Nido town anchorage, the SW-season choice. PAGASA: rainy season June to November. A yacht crew at El Nido reported a squall with gusts over 50 knots that knocked the boat down, winds gusting and shifting around the mountains as the SW monsoon arrived. SW-protected anchorages: El Nido town, Guntao NE, Taytay town; Malampaya Sound for typhoons. Tour C and outer-island trips are often cancelled.
