El Nido Town Anchorage (Bacuit Bay)

11° 11.1′ N · 119° 23.2′ E

The anchorage right off El Nido town, tucked under the black limestone wall of Taraw with the bangka fleet streaming in and out of the beach. Closest you can get to restaurants, ATMs and the Coast Guard, and the better of the two town anchorages in the southwest monsoon.

Practical

Southeast Asia Pilot position (11°11.065'N 119°23.230'E): 5 m sand, north of the main town jetty, sheltered in the SW season, busy with tour boats. Hacking Family logged 11°11.19'N 119°23.34'E in 12 ft (about 4 m) sand. The bay entrance is shallow (3-4 m) with two entries, east and west of a central reef - 'not for the faint of heart'; enter in good light. Floating dinghy dock in town; Coast Guard near the dock. A secondary source reports the town anchorage gets rolly in NE swell (Nov-Feb). Anchor well clear of ferry and bangka lanes. Mobile: Globe 4G, Smart 3G (2020-22 report). El Nido is not a port of entry: clear in at Puerto Princesa first (Southeast Asia Pilot notes officials can be arranged to visit boats at El Nido).
