San Juan Anchorage (Siquijor)

9° 9.6′ N · 123° 29.2′ E

An open anchorage off San Juan, Siquijor's main tourist strip on the south-west coast, with beach resorts, dive shops and sanctuaries along several kilometres of shore.

Practical

Philippines Compendium: tracks from an unnamed boat that anchored off San Juan several times in February-March over several years, at approximately 09 09.5796'N 123 29.1514'E. No depth or holding was published: sound in. Solita (2012) notes that around Siquijor the bottom generally shoals very quickly to a thin strip of anchoring depth. The coast faces south-west, so it is exposed in the south-west monsoon and best in the north-east monsoon. Keep well clear of the Tubod and Maite marine sanctuaries to the south-east: no anchoring or fishing there. Land the dinghy at a resort beach, and ask permission first.
