Monsoon Anchorage Switch (Amihan vs Habagat)
13° 30.3′ N · 120° 57.2′ E
Puerto Galera's two monsoons decide where you sleep: west of Paniquian Island when the northeast amihan blows, Varadero Bay when the southwest habagat sets in.
Practical
Position: OSM Muelle Bay. Noonsite: NE monsoon - anchor west of Paniquian Island; SW monsoon - Varadero Bay; both sand. PGYC: amihan November-April, habagat May-October. In the NE monsoon Secret Bay and other north-facing Anilao sites get rough (Blue Ribbon). Apo Reef trips run December-June (Pandan).
