Mayangga Island Snorkel (west Subic Bay)
14° 50.0′ N · 120° 14.0′ E · approximate
The rocky shallows around tiny Mayangga Island and its lighthouse, on the quiet western shore of Subic Bay. Subic Sailing Club runs it as a one-hour day sail for snorkelling and beach time.
Practical
Coordinates approximate: on the island's north-west side, near the mapped coastline (OSM island 14.8322°N 120.2346°E; lighthouse 14.8322°N 120.2347°E). Subic Sailing Club lists snorkelling, island hopping and beach time over 'powdery white sand' and 'calm turquoise waters'; it is 1 hour under sail or 30 minutes by speedboat from the Lighthouse Marina. Neither the club nor other sources found describe coral cover or species, so expect a modest fringing reef. Rocks and islets (Cangrejo, Gaviota, Pequeña) lie close by (OSM): approach slowly in good light and anchor on sand. Sheltered from the SW monsoon swell by the Bataan shore, but open to the NE across the bay.
