Maria Bay Anchorage (Siquijor)
9° 11.7′ N · 123° 39.6′ E · approximate
A large bay off the town of Maria on Siquijor's east coast, near Salagdoong Beach, deep until well in and then shelving fast.
Practical
Position approx: placed in the bay about 260 m off the shore near Maria town (OSM town node 9.1962N 123.6552E) and checked as open water on the OpenStreetMap coastline. Splinter's Apprentice (2000, OCC, in the Philippines Compendium): large bay, deep until well in, then shelves fairly steeply; anchor in 5-10 m, sand and coral; holding fair but lots of isolated low coral heads; swell tends to creep round the corner, and the bay is open to the east. Solita (2012) recommends Maria and Lazi bays in the north-east season, although Maria opens east: pick calm days. Salagdoong Beach is about 3 km north.
Best for
