Jacking Horse

9° 48.9′ N · 126° 9.8′ E · approximate

A peaky, fun reef wave just north of Cloud 9 - mostly a right, with a small left off the point - where local instructors take beginners when the main break is crowded.

Practical

Approx: Wannasurf pin (9 48.927'N 126 9.842'E, WGS84, flagged 'approximate'). Coral reef with sand; normal ride 50-150 m, up to 150-300 m on a good day. Works on SE, E or NE swell with NW-SW (offshore) wind; best at low and mid tide (Wannasurf). Access: walk past the Cloud 9 pier along the beach to the point (small mangrove island on your right) and paddle out; locals teach on the inside sections. Hazards: rips and a strong current at times. Philippine Beach Guide (2019) lists Jacking Horse and nearby Quicksilver as beginner-intermediate breaks. From a boat: dinghy in from General Luna at mid-high tide; don't anchor on the reef.
