Espana Anchorage (Sibuyan west)
12° 22.8′ N · 122° 29.9′ E
An anchorage over sand off España village on Sibuyan's south-west coast, sheltered from the north-east monsoon under the island's forested mountains.
Practical
Position: Solita (2012), 12°22.84'N 122°29.9'E, 5 m over sand, gently shoaling shore. Good protection from N to E, but higher chance of wind bullets off the mountains in strong amihan. Near the Olango River; road access, local sari-sari stores and good internet ashore (2012). Soggy Paws (April 2018) anchored further south-east between San Fernando and España (see Sibuyan Southwest Beach Anchorage) and found most of this coast anchorable in NE winds. Open to the west and south-west: leave in the habagat.
Best for
NE-monsoon overnight on Sibuyan's lee coast
Season
Nov–Apr (amihan)
