Puerto Ángel Dinghy Landing (Playa Panteón)

15° 39.9′ N · 96° 29.7′ W

Land the dinghy on Playa Panteón, the sheltered west beach of Puerto Ángel bay with lifeguards and restaurants; the town pier is too high and the main beach is busy with pangas.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap outline of Playa Panteón (way 233968596). Wikipedia: Panteón is more sheltered than Playa Principal; the pier on the east side (refurbished 1999) is too high for the fishing boats, which are run straight onto Playa Principal, where swimming is discouraged and boat traffic peaks in the morning as the catch comes in. A stone walkway (the andador) links the two beaches; waves can spray it at high tide. A small naval installation is on the west side of the bay. Keep the dinghy well up the beach and clear of the swim area.
