Playa Box (Punta Sur East Side, Cozumel)
20° 18.2′ N · 86° 56.9′ W · approximate
A lonely windward beach just round Cozumel's southern tip where the Caribbean surf rolls in, a few steps from the Rasta beach bar.
Practical
Coordinate is the beach polygon named 'Playa Bosh' in OpenStreetMap (GeoNames spells it 'Playa Box', 20.29236, -86.95836; approximate). Wikivoyage: the east ('other') side has beautiful sandy beaches alternating with rocky limestone, but big waves, strong breakers and undertows make swimming dangerous in many places - check the warning flags and never go in alone. Wikivoyage describes the nearby Rasta bar as never crowded, even with six cruise ships in, with beach and wave exploring and caves to hike to nearby. Reach by car or scooter along the coast road.
Best for
Beachcombing and sunset beers on the wild side
