Nuevo Vallarta Port Captain (International Zarpe)
20° 41.3′ N · 105° 17.5′ W · approximate
All boats leaving Banderas Bay for a foreign port, including the spring Pacific Puddle Jump fleet, get their international zarpe from the Port Captain in Nuevo Vallarta.
Practical
Coordinate is approximate (beside Marina Nuevo Vallarta). Procedure per Noonsite (last updated 2019; verify locally): boats in La Cruz or Puerto Vallarta first clear out domestically with their local Port Captain. One day before departure, visit the Nuevo Vallarta office between 9am and 11am or phone with boat name, captain, crew names, destination and exact departure date and time, then email passport copies with subject 'Zarpe and boat name'. On departure day call the Port Captain on VHF 16 30 minutes before arriving at Marina Nuevo Vallarta for a slip assignment; the slip is free for 1.5 hours and the process takes 10 to 15 minutes. Fees (2019, verify locally): 3 to 20 tons MXN 227; 21 to 100 tons MXN 343; card payment is faster than cash. Hand in all FMM tourist cards. Expect queues in March and April when many Puddle Jump boats clear the same day.
