Loreto Anchorage (Malecón)

26° 0.7′ N · 111° 20.1′ W · approximate

An open roadstead off Loreto's malecón, just outside the small-craft harbour—anchor here in calm weather to walk into Baja's oldest town for groceries, restaurants and the mission.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate: off the waterfront south of the harbour entrance, checked in-water against the OpenStreetMap coastline; not a surveyed anchorage. Canadian Yachting describe 'a small anchorage outside the marina'. Wide open to the Gulf—use only in settled weather and leave for Puerto Escondido (15 nm south) or Isla Coronado ahead of any blow. Loreto recorded a 77-knot gust in Hurricane Newton (2016). Land the dinghy in the harbour (La Dársena) rather than through surf.
