La Paz Port of Entry (Capitanía, Immigration, API)
24° 9.3′ N · 110° 19.1′ W · approximate
La Paz is a full Mexican port of entry: the Capitanía de Puerto (port captain), the INM immigration office and the API port administration all handle yachts here, and most cruisers clear in or out without an agent.
Practical
Coordinate is approximate: street-level geocode of Calle Revolución in Centro (OpenStreetMap), near the Port Captain's office; the three offices are in different places. Port Captain: Revolución 1935 at Guerrero and Militar, open Mon-Fri 8:00 am-2:30 pm, VHF 16 (Club Cruceros Cruiser Guide, 3rd ed. 2025). Immigration (INM): Blvd. Agustín Olachea 1177 at Colosio and Garzas, open 9:00 am-2:00 pm Mon-Fri; a 2026 marina-association guide says first-entry visitors pay 983 MXN per person and now get a passport stamp instead of the paper FMM. API (port administration): office at the Muelle Fiscal (municipal pier) on the Malecón, where anchored boats pay the daily anchoring fee - from September 2025, 19.07 MXN/day under 20 gross tons, 34.47 for 21-40 GT, 67.31 for 41-60 GT, plus a one-time port entry fee of 94.68 MXN under 39 tons; estimate your stay, pay up front and settle the difference before checking out. Boats in a marina pay API through the marina - keep receipts. Moving between Mexican ports you only need to notify the port captain (aviso of arrival/departure). If you leave a boat at anchor unattended the Port Captain requires you to name a responsible person or company. Cruiser reviews say expect up to two hours at the port captain and that cards are now accepted. Optional agents: Eco Naviera (Marina Cortez) handles clearance, TIPs and park permits.
