Carnaval de La Paz

24° 9.6′ N · 110° 19.1′ W · approximate

One of the oldest carnivals on the Baja peninsula takes over the Malecón for six days before Lent with parades, free concerts, fireworks and food stalls - and the Malecón anchorage has front-row seats.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate: the Malecón kiosk area near the Muelle Fiscal. The 2026 edition ('Reinas del Cambio') ran February 12-17, 2026; activities start in the afternoon with concerts at night, parades Sunday-Tuesday, and stage concerts are free. Expect road closures along the Malecón in the afternoons and evenings. The Log recommends anchoring off the Malecón or cruising the channel between the Muelle Fiscal and the windmill to watch; buy tickets ahead for restaurant events. Dates follow the Lenten calendar - check each year.
