Gran Maratón Pacífico (Mazatlán Marathon and Triathlon)

Mazatlán's big running weekend: a flat marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K run along the malecón, with a triathlon at the same festival. Thousands of runners from Mexico and abroad come, and the waterfront closes to traffic.

Held in late November or early December. The 2025 edition (the 24th, sponsored as the Gran Maratón Chevron Mazatlán) ran November 28 to 30, and marathons.com lists the 2026 marathon for Saturday, November 28. In 2023 the races started and finished at the Monumento al Pescador on the malecón, with the triathlon on Saturday and the marathon on Sunday from 6:15 am. Expect road closures along Avenida del Mar and full hotels. Book marina space early if you're arriving from the Sea of Cortez for the season. Registration information: venados.com/maraton. Coordinate is derived from the OpenStreetMap malecón outline (way 250053375) and isn't the start line.
