Cozumel Carnaval

20° 30.6′ N · 86° 57.0′ W · approximate

One of Mexico's most traditional carnivals, held for more than 150 years: comparsas, costumed parades, the satirical 'guaranducha' and the wooden bull Wacax Ché fill San Miguel's streets in the week before Lent.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate: San Miguel's main square area (Wikivoyage Casa Denis position). Runs the week before Mardi Gras, normally in February (Wikipedia; BoatTEST). In 2027 Ash Wednesday falls on 10 February, so Carnaval runs in the days just before. Recognised by Mexico's tourism board as one of the country's eight most representative carnivals. Expect crowded streets and busy anchorage/ferry traffic; northers are still possible in February.
