Port Zante Marina

17° 17.6′ N · 62° 43.5′ W

A small, breakwater-protected marina tucked inside the Port Zante reclamation at the heart of Basseterre, a short walk from The Circus, the market and the Nevis ferry. It is the only place to lie alongside in the capital and the usual base for clearing in by dinghy from the bay.

Practical

Small marina: CruisersWiki/Noonsite describe about 36 slips with only a few kept for visitors, so catamarans and larger boats often find no room (noforeignland reviews, 2026). Call ahead on VHF 16 or 68 or phone +1 869 466 5021; the Port Zante (SKUDC) site lists office hours Mon-Sat 8am-4pm, freshwater, fuelling, 24-hour security and on-site customs and immigration, and takes berth requests at portzante.com/book-a-berth. ActiveCaptain dockage data (2014, verify locally) gave US$0.70/ft with catamarans at US$1.20/ft; shore power 110/220 V 60 Hz; water reported as a flat US$16 (2013, verify locally). Fuel: the Delta Petroleum fuel dock was reported working in 2023 after years of 'sign but no fuel' - confirm before relying on it; fuel is sold in Imperial gallons (about 25% more than a US gallon). Otherwise the nearest diesel is the Sol station on Wellington Road in front of Valu Mart IGA (about 1 mile). Dinghy entry: a large rock lies about 1 ft below the surface at the corner as you enter - it was once marked with PVC stakes (leave them to starboard); go right between the rocks and the last pier. The marina guard has charged anchored boats US$5 per 24 hours for dinghy access (ActiveCaptain). Cash is preferred. Free water tap and rubbish bins reported at the marina. Expect cruise-ship noise and wash.
