Anse de Corossol Anchorage

17° 54.4′ N · 62° 51.5′ W · approximate

A small cove north of Gustavia fronting Corossol, the island's traditional fishing village of Norman-descended families, wooden boats pulled up on the sand and women weaving latanier-palm straw hats.

Practical

Position is off the beach, derived from the OpenStreetMap bay and beach positions (approx). Reported depths 4-8 m; anchorage only, limited space and no marina services; good protection from the easterly trades, exposed to northerly and westerly swell. Land the dinghy on the beach and respect the fishing boats. Ashore: Epicerie de Corossol (sandwiches), Nyama and JP Pizza; the Inter Oceans shell museum is in the village. A dive operator (Lily Blue Caraibes) is based in the bay.

Best for

A quiet alternative to the outer harbour within dinghy range of Gustavia

Season

Dec-May; avoid in N or W ground swell
