A shady white-sand cove south of Hapuna, named after utility pole number 69 at the access road, with coral heads around large underwater rocks and depths around 30 ft just outside the bay. It is quieter and more local than Hapuna.
Practical
Coordinate from To-Hawaii.com's map pin. Part of a Marine Life Conservation District: look, do not touch. No lifeguards. Calm in summer; winter surf draws surfers to the north point break and strips sand. Reach it from Puako Beach Drive and Old Puako Road to the signed parking lot; non-residents should expect paid parking and entry. Kayaking possible when calm. The state MLCD layer maps the Waialea Bay Marine Life Conservation District.
